How is EcoChoice Carpet Better for the Environment?

- It can be recycled, which can divert waste from
overflowing landfills
- It can be used in the production of new carpet, which reduces
the depletion of our planet’s non-renewable
resources
- It plants trees. Not literally, but every purchase
of an EcoChoice branded product provides a
donation to two of the National Arbor Day
Foundation’s tree planting programs.
How is EcoChoice Carpet Recycled?

The recycling system used to make EcoChoice
carpets is designed to utilize post-consumer
carpet in a cradle-to-cradle, closed-loop
process. This sustainable process allows
nylon fibers to be recycled continually to
make new carpet. As post-consumer Type
6 Nylon is collected, it is sent to Shaw’s
Evergreen Nylon Recycling Plant.
The Evergreen plant employs patented
technology that converts this post-consumer
nylon into caprolactam, the basic building
block of Type 6 Nylon fiber. It is then sent
to a yarn extrusion plant and made into new Type 6 Nylon. The resulting fiber is then used
to manufacture EcoChoice carpet, which is sold and enjoyed by people like you. When
the carpet reaches the end of its useful life, it doesn't have to be buried in a landfill. It can
be brought back to the recycling facility so the process can start all over again.
* Recycled content varies. Visit www.shawfloors.com for more information.
** Recycling facilities may not exist in your area. New ones are added all the time so check here to see current list.
